new software update iOS 4.2 for iphone problem

Every time I try to download on itunes it clicks on saying current version of itunes is current.My message from ATT says connect to itunes & follow directions to update to iOS 4.2. Anyone know how to get to the directions if they are different from on your summary page. Thx
