laptop battery question

I got a message that my battery is weak due to age ( 1 1/2 years old).

It is not holding a charge for as long as it should. Here are my questions.

Should I purchase my battery through HP or should I just buy one from a store such as Battery Plus ?

Until I get the new battery should I just use it plugged in and if so should I remove the battery all together ?
