Are you talking about audio books? I haven't tried one but I imagine they would. It would be just like downloading a music CD.

Several kindles have the text to speech availability. It is not audio books. http://science.opposingviews.com/kindles-texttoread-feature-18361.html

You can put audio book files into the Folder marked ""Music"".

Both the Kindle HD and the Kindle HDX have text to speech. Yes, it will read the book to you even if it isn't an audio book.

So does the Kindle Fire.

I believe all Kindles have text to speech but it is nothing like an audio book. It is a computerized voice that sounds robotic. Also, not all books allow text to speech.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

I just got the paperwhite and I don't think it has text to speech. I had it on the keyboard kindle but it is robotic speech.

Lovecats, you are right. The paperwhite doesn't have text to speech.

I don't like listening to the text to speech. A lot of the pronunciation is wrong and sometimes you can't even figure out what word they are saying.
