My grand daughter dropped her kindle fire (xmas gift) and the screen is cracked. I called amazon to see if they do repairs, they do not, but will sell a replacement for a reduced price of $89.00. My question is, is the cracked screen kindle of any value? It works fine. Any feed back appreciated. thanks!

What do you mean of any value? To sell or get fixed?

There are companies that will repair a broken Kindle Fire HD screen (Gophermod being one) but their prices are so high (around $139 to replace a screen) that it makes no sense. You can buy a new one for $89 so why spend $139 to fix the old one???
Does it have value? Sure. As long as it still works you can get away with using it. If the crack is in an out of the way location and stable it would only affect the aesthetic aspect of the device. I've seen people using smartphones with seriously shattered screens so you can still use it as long as the break is stable and there are no sharp edges to injure the user. It does have value there. Would anyone buy it from you? Maybe, but it would have to be at a very big bargain price. You're not going to get more than maybe $20 for it at best.

The price to repair is close to purchasing a new one. I guess I will sell it on craigs list.
