internet security when ordering online question please help?

I ordered on eyeslipsface (elf cosmetics) website. After submitting my order I noticed that the lock in the left corner was unlocked but it said HTTPS. Which I be leave means secure. I know a lot of people order from there with no problem. I called there customer service and they said its very secure. Can anyone please tell what it means when the pad lock is unlocked but it says HTTPS.? Thanks so much to anyone that can help me.
