Since I updated to the newest iOS, the battery loses percentage at an alarming rate.  While on standby, my phone dropped from 100% to 1% in less than 24 hours.  This is completely unacceptable.  I've gone into the settings and turned off as much as I can and still use it.  Has anyone else noticed this?  I'm tempted to go to our local Apple service center and see what a new battery would cost.  I don't need a new phone (although I would like a better camera) and I don't want to spend the money.

@glb613I'd go and explain the problem without asking the price of a new battery -  let them tell you what the solution is and then deal with the awful price!  I finally had to break down and buy a new phone a few months ago although Ifought it out with my old phone for a long time.

When I think about the dollars I spend on tech, I'm appalled.  It's not like I'm using it to produce anything beyond my social/entertainment life, but I know I'm crazed when things are not working right.

It shouldn't be doing this, especially a new battery.... sometimes if I forget to double click and slide running apps off my phone it will really deplete the battery fast......  good luck, hope it's something simple.

@glb613  It really sounds like you have apps running in the background......that will suck the life out of the battery very quickly.  If it turns out you do need a new battery, though, I'd look for one on Amazon.  I've always gotten great deals there on all kinds of batteries.

I haven't yet updated, but I've had that issue a few times past. It's never lasted more than a few hours when I've experienced it and the numbers would flip all over the place, like when you go to download something and it says it will take 20 minutes.... 40 minutes......27 minutes.... 35 minutes.....25  minutes. I would panic and make plans to go to the Apple store near me ASAP, but it always fixed itself.

I think I had it happen on both my iPhone 6 and the 6S, but I can't remember. I went in to have the battery tested and a diagnostic run and each time the phone and the battery both checked out as fine.

If yours hasn't righted itself in a few hours, I would get it checked out. Batteries are about $80 without Apple Care, I think. I got a new battery for $29, which is what they arranged to give people after it came out they were slowing down phones older than either a 7 or an 8 when they released the new iOS for the iPhone 8 and X.

They're offering discounted battery replacement for certain iphone6 and later models, including the SE, through the end of this year, it's 29 dollars.

There are discussions on the internet about battery problems after installing iOS 11.4.  Of course I had already installed it when I read about it. I was actually just looking for more information about the upgrade and the battery problem was a surprise.

So far my battery doesn’t seem to be draining faster on either my iPhone or iPad, but I’ll know better tomorrow.

The update did fix a strange glitch in my emails, so that’s good.

These Apple bugs never seem to affect everyone. Odd.

ETA: 6/13/18 - Batteries on both iPhone and IPad are draining normally.

I finally got mine replaced today, although I wasn’t having issues with 11.4 I had previously been getting reboots when I was heavily using my phone. I have a 6 plus. My friend had his 7 battery replaced under the new program a couple months ago. I figured since no new phones were announced at last weeks WWDC I’d probably have this phone for awhile longer so I went ahead and replaced it.
