I just wanted to save someone the time of looking up a particular issue.  I've only had my iPhone 14 pro max for a week but I thought I was doing something wrong because my text tone sound level was WAY softer than my ringtone.  I made all of the right adjustments and nothing changed.  It's not that I'm hard of hearing.  I just usually have some noise already going on (tv, music, etc.) and when I'm not at work (where my phone is always on silent mode), I like to be able to hear text messages come across if I'm in another room.

I purchase song clips for my text tones and on my previous iPhones, I could hear them very well.  Now I can barely hear them even if the tv is off.  I googled it and it's a known issue.  They are hoping that a fix can be developed.

@freakygirl I'm glad to hear that.  I just called Apple support.  She said to update to the latest operating system (16.0.3).  I did that and nothing changed.  At least my name is on the list of those having this issue.  She said if enough people complain, they will make changes.  Thanks.

do you have an apple store near you? maybe you can bring it there and ask for help. i'm so sorry you have that problem. i hope it can be fixed
