Hey, folks.  On January 13th, I had an update for Messenger on my iPads.  It installed fine on one but not the other.  On my mini iPad, the icon shows the word 'installing'.  It's not installed, though.  I have to use Messenger on my other iPad or my computer.  I tried installing the app again...still didn't work.  Help, please.

Another thing ......my iPads used to synchronize everything I put in such as photos.  Now it doesn't.  I didn't do anything different that I know of.  Thanks in advance.

Have you tried a hard reboot? That's when you hold down both the Home button and the power button at the same time until it powers off. If you have not tried that, do the reboot and then try the update again. If you were doing the update wirelessly and you have a computer, try connecting it to iTunes the second time.

If you tried a hard reboot and it's still stuck, contact Apple support or make an appointment to bring it in to a Genius at the Apple store.

@Mmsfoxxie

Also, are you connected to iCloud?

That may be how your devices are "syncing."

If you go into "settings" and check to see if under the category (on left) "Photos and Camera" and turn on "Upload to My Photo Stream" so that all of your devices will get copies of your pictures.(if you want all copies on all devices).

Thanks, @ChynnaBlue and @LTT1.  The hard reboot worked.  I re-installed Messenger.  But I lost my rotation, lol.  It is locked now.  I'll reboot again.

As for the cloud.  I can't figure that out.  It shows 'photos'.  I don't see how to upload to photo stream

Thanks.

@LTT1, I went and reloaded and did I what you suggested.  Hope that does the job.  Thanks much.

@Mmsfoxxie

Go into "Settings" from your home page

Go to "Photos and Camera" -- Click on

The top choice is asking you if you want all pictures uploaded into iCloud Photo library?  Mine is "on" (green)

1/2 down is "Upload to My Photo Stream"  If this is off, I don't think your photos will be stored for long in iCloud.

If this is ON (green slider) your photos will be kept in iCloud.

So, the Setttings area controls if or if not your photos are put in the cloud. hth

@Mmsfoxxie

If your rotate is locked, swipe up from the margin at the bottom and hit the circle so it is gray.  Rotate will now be allowed.

Hit it again to lock so it won't.

@LTT1, they are both green, so I think I did it right.

The rotation is working now but it started on its own, lol.  I didn't see the circle but I know what you're talking about.  DooBDoo  told me about it once before when this happened.  Didn't show this time.  Thanks, lovestoteach!

@Mmsfoxxie... I hope you still have the "bar" at the bottom when you swipe up. It also has the flashlight.
IOS is wanting me to do an update... 9.2.1 c'mon... how many updates can there be? LOL
About the "Messenger" install... does it give you a message that in order to install it you have to "make space" by deleting and then re-installing some apps?
We had to do this on two of our devices... and the re-install of the apps we like went fine afterwards. : )

No message like that, @LTT1.  I have plenty of space.  I love my iPads but sometimes it just wants to play with me, lol.  Especially my mini iPad.  I still prefer them to my laptop.

I didn't get any updates today but if I do, I might just let them set there a while, lol.
