iPad 4th Gen. apps and shipping

Just ordered my iPad 4th Gen. 64GB and it says it will be here 10 days from now but I won't be home on that day. Did anyone else's iPad take that long? Also, I'm a college student what are good note taking apps or any other good apps to download for my iPad?
