I've been doing this for several years now. Some people refuse to use email so I email their phone instead. And they text back to my email.

I don't text, I have a cell phone but no bells/whistles. My friends are trying to get me to buy a new phone but I don't want to spend the extra money! I tried texting via the address that were listed in this thread. I do have the correct cell phone carrier but the message keeps coming back to me...it seems pretty simple, what can I possibly be doing wrong? I am sending the message via my MacBookAir OSX, Thanks!

You have to know what carrier the person you are texting uses. Let's say I use AT&T. You would open your email and send me an email to the following address - 5551234@txt.att.net
