@Ditzydori I am far from a tech expert, just know enough to be dangerous. Smiles. I have oodles of friends who do this....run everything off the unlimited plan they have on their phones. It would save you $30 dollars a month...perhaps give it a try and see if it works for you. My guess is that it will because you are currently shutting off your WiFi now.

I was considering this some time ago.
One thing to consider—what to do when you want to update your iOS or apps. Apple only allows a certain amount of data to be used via cell service. Many updates are bigger than what they allow, so must be done via wi-fi.

I was living off my phone's data for about five months and found that with fairly minimal use I was still using about 2 gb's a week. For app updates I'd head to Walmart or Burger King and use their free Internet for larger downloads. For me, the math just works out better with Comcast Internet.

Doesn’t unlimited data mean unlimited, geezerette? I’m not understanding.
@Ditzydori It's due to the size of the download. Cellurlar can only download so much which is why a Wifi connection is needed. I hope that makes sense.

It’s not your cell service that would not allow updates. It’s Apple. I believe they only allow updates of up to 100mb on cell service, many of which are larger. Your iPhone knows when it’s connected to cell or wi-fi, so I assume if you were only on cell service, your phone would not allow a large update.

I used to have 5g internet per month with Verizon for $50
Couldn't wait to get rid of it
Now I have unlimited internet with AT&T for $40
I can only use it at my house but if I need internet elsewhere, I can usually find free WiFi.
All that said, you should probably ditch the $40 per month internet.

I hope you're not enjoying any TV enhancements like Netflix since it's dependent on wifi.
