I am currently running windows xp. I purchased a Windows 8 touchscreen all-in-one computer during black friday for a great price. Now after reading how much everyone really really hates windows 8 and windows 8.1, I am second guessing my purchase, since I have a lot of word and excel files with Office 2003. Would it be better to return my new computer (still in box) and purchase a cheap tower with windows 7 and wait for windows 9 to make its appearance? Ladies, as always, your candid opinions and comments are appreciated.

For those XP users who are exploring their options, there's a very helpful article here: Windows XP - The Elephant in the Room
It's written by a knowledgeable program developer/malware expert, and it's written with the end user in mind.

When my old Windows XP computer died I purchased a new computer almost a year ago and it would have come with Windows 8.
After reading and hearing all the horror stories, I paid extra to have Windows 7 installed instead. It works fine for me.
