Windows Updates

I get notification of the updates and put them in myself. I put 6 important updates in a few weeks ago. Updates came up gain last week and it said 12. 6 of the 12 were already put in but they came up again. I checked the history and they said the 6 were successful from a few weeks ago. So my question is how can I stop the same updates from going in except to take the checkmark off. If my computer says they were successful why would they still be in the updates to be put in? This just started.
