I just bought a new laptop with Windows 10.  Does anybody else hate it as much as I do?Smiley Sad  It makes no sense to me.  I am typing this on my old faithful computer that has Windows 8.

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

There is a setting in Windows 10 where you can make it look like Windows 8.  I have Windows 7, so I don't know how, but if you google it I bet you'd find your answer.

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

I a heckuva lot happier with Windows 10 than I EVER was with 8.1.

Of course I was happiest with XP. They couldn't improve on that interface so they degraded it instead. (IMHO of course!).

I'm sorry, Anniecamp. If you are still willing to give it a try, I would recommend looking at some tutorials that you can find on YouTube for it. That might help make it better for you. Cat Happy

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

I literally (just an hour ago) went from Win 7 to Win 10 and am using 10 as I write this. There will be a learning curve (I have a book), but I can at least navigate and function right out of the box, as it were. I wanted no part of 8!

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

I hated Win10 when I tried to upgrade from my Win 8.1 so many problems with it. I think when you have Win 10 already loaded on a new computer it makes a big difference on so many levels. I was really glad when I was able to go back to Win 8.1 the tiles never bothered me. I can not wait until they stop with the upgrade already [that will happen July29th of 2016] And my computers are [almost] new just did not come with Win10 so I thought this would be a good upgrade for my computers. Oy , did I learn the hard way!

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

OMG! Anniecamp, my heart goes out to you. When I got my new 8.1 Windows computer at the beginning of 2014, logging in almost drove me crazy because it automatically took me directly to that darn app screen - what a pain. A few days later, I found out how to change the log-in to automatically go to the desktop and it was uphill from there.

After all that work, I was nowhere near interested in Windows 10 upgrade - so I didn’t accept the offer, but it has tried on several occasions to automatically install on my computer. My 8.1 Windows is practically brand new in my eyes and it serves my purpose. Windows 10 will be my choice somewhere down the road, when I’m ready for a new computer adjustment experience/headache. Until then, I steer clear.

Anniecamp, I hope you can find some help on Youtube as has been suggested by Toppers.  Good luck.

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

I hope you end up getting used to it.   I imagine you could probably install Classic Shell (classicshell.net) and make it look like the older operating systems.  That's what I did on our Win8.1 computers because I hated the silly tiles and couldn't find anything.  Now they can look like previous operating systems where you are used to being able to find stuff.

Just a thought that might help.  Smiley Happy

I'm really over this new thing with them creating new operating systems every five minutes, though!  How about just making improvements on the current ones?

Re: Windows 10 on New Computer

I got  a new computer with Windows 10, and I love it.  There are some things that are different from Windows 7, which I loved, but I don't feel there is that much difference between the two.  It did take me a couple of days to learn where everything was located, but all in all, I am very happy with Windows 10.  I don't care much for the Edge, so I got Firefox, which I had on my Windows 7, and use that instead.

Good luck on your new computer, and maybe in time you will learn to like it as much as I like mine.

That's been my experience as well. I don't have it all down pat yet, but going from 7 to 10 I can still function okay. I might experiment with Edge at some point, but I'm very attached to Chrome and don't really want to change.
