The good news, you don't need to spend $150.00. You can find quality brands for under $100.00. I have a Sony and I'm really happy with it. It's also a "smart" wireless BluRay meaning it will access the internet and connect to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I registered it with Amazon and can watch rented or purchased movies or TV shows. I'd check Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart or Sam's.

That's not true. I don't have an account with Sony. I have an account with Amazon and registered my player with them. I don't have a Netflix account so I don't know what that involves.

I wouldn't rule out anyone (not just Sony) being able to track what you watch using an Internet connected blu-ray player (God only knows what kind of data travels back and forth) but in reality it shouldn't matter. It's hard to imagine any way that data could be used against you. If they use your viewing history to recommend new shows/videos for you to watch similar to those they know you like, then that could even be a benefit rather than a drawback. Truth be told none of us are all that interesting to have someone caring what we watch. With millions of blu-ray players on the market anyone trying to monitor use would quickly become overwhelmed.

I've got 3 Samsung blu-ray players one of which is also 3D. All of them are wi-fi and I have them all hooked up through my modem/router. Samsung has been my choice for many electronics over the years and they now sell more tv sets world wide than any other company and also are a leader in cell phone technology.

Best Buy has a Samsung smart Wifi BluRay player for $79.00.
