Re: Why do they ask for two factor identification

@Sooner - If hackers are determined, they might be able to capture anyone's password or other details.  I just make it as difficult as possible.

And, yes, I do use two-step authenication.

Re: Why do they ask for two factor identification

I am aware that some sites I frequent with my computer, wants to do a two factor identification and I have no control over it.  On more than one occassion I have had to log on to gmail and it makes me verify my back up email or phone number.  Everytime they do this I choose to prove it's me my providing my back up email and then I'm in.  This the same thing for other email provided by ISP.  They will decide randomly, when to ask me to verify with further information.  I have no choice over that either.

My security camera company requires a two factor identification as well.  If I want to view the activity around my home where cameras are on my computer, I must wait to get the code that the company's system automatically generates then sends to me via text message. I didn't ask for this, they are just doing it.

Probably went to your SPAM folder.  I am assuming you did not check there.

@Mz iMac @No, the second code  took a long time to get here.

Supposed to be "an extra layer of security".  Most websites allow you to disable it if you don't like it.
