Which photo editing program is best for removing backgrounds?

I want to remove backgrounds from pictures of industrial products for our website so it the product will stand out on the white background. I need a program that will allow sharp and detailed edges of the product.

Also, I assume I will need a pad/pen product as well. What do you all reccommend?
