What is the BEST antivirus program?

I have Norton 360 installed in my computer. The Norton 360 was only a month old and completely up to date. The other day I got a virus in an email from a friend. I had to pay $139.99 for help from Norton to get rid of the virus. Now my DH's Norton is about to run out. I am seeking advice for a antivirus program that really will keep them out.
