I own both. I stopped using my Fire when it quit working. After jumping through hoops, Amazon Customer Service sent me a refurbished Fire at a reduced price. The refurbished Fire would spontaneously shut off for no reason. All the Customer Service reps I talked to, supervisors included, could not help me.  

 

We own two iPads and have NEVER had a problem with them. They sync flawlessly with our iPhones and iMac. 

 

If you want a quality tablet with superior Customer Service, choose an Apple iPad. If you want a paperweight, choose a Fire. @Zhills

I had  both and I agree the Apple Ipad is much better all around tablet. But, to do basic things like surfing the web watching movies...the fire is alright. I recently donated my old Ipad to a apple store .. and sent my fire tablets back to Amazon .. I recently brought a new Samsung tablet which I love.
