Re: What are we doing wrong with our DVD player?

The repeat function was built in so retailers and businesses could set it to repeat a particular sequence or chapter for their audience. The repeat function keeps the DVD playing whatever section of the DVD the operator wants in an endless loop.

My old ophthalmologist's office had a TV set up in the waiting room with a DVD player endlessly playing a DVD featuring the services their office offered. They had multiple variations of the ad on the DVD in different chapters and could select which one they wanted to have play depending on the season. If you went in mid-summer to early fall they focused on eye health for kids going back to school. Other times it was on custom sunglasses, cataract surgery, etc. These days with cheaper small computers things have evolved more into an all-digital format rather than DVD, but some DVD players still have that function.

Anytime from the nineties until recently you saw a TV or monitor showing a neverending program it was most likely on a DVD and being played using the repeat option on the player.

@depglass

Glad you got this figured out. I have to check your original post before a make 1 comment.

However, if your hardware "TV/DVD" or whatever, has functions on them? It is always better to use those in lieu of a remote to find problems. Remotes, at times, are the problem.

I might add to this after I reread your original post. Now, on to your DVD's!!

ETA:  I read your original post and it said what I was thinking but wasn't sure.  You said "this also happened on our old player". That is what confused me in your original post.

If it happened on 2 different DVD players?  I wouldn't even consider "a setting" being the problem. It would be at the tail in of my long list of locating the problem.  2 DVD discs? Yes! 2 DVD players? No. I'm done, glad it is working correctly now.
