Jordan2, I would get the one with the ads because it is a little cheaper. There is only one ad on the screen before you unlock it with a swipe. After the swipe, the ad is gone. I have owned mine for a little over a year and I did actually take advantage of ONE ad. They aren't bothersome at all.
My mom has the older kindle that only has 8 gb of storage and she has plenty. So I'm sure 16 would be enough.

I agree with the 7" being too small. I use it to read and carry books around and listen to books, but it would be too small to use for web surfing or even playing solitaire for me. Go for the bigger one.

I have the tablets but for easy reading, I love my Paperwhite Kindle. It's easy to operate, it's light and the back light makes it easy on the eyes. Also, it's very easy to make the font bigger or smaller with just one tap. I think it was $119 on Amazon.

I also LUV my Paperwhite. It is a nice e-reader, and w/o ads is $139.

Can you surf the web on the Paperwhite or download games to it?

No surfing. I think there are a few games you can get, but not a lot. And the would be in black and white.

No, it's an e-reader.

16 is enough storage unless you plan to store thousands of pictures and thousands of songs as well as a few active movies. To read some, surf some, play a few games, I can't imagine needing to buy more. I know for me, even the 16 is more capacity than I need for the life I lead.

I'm glad you're loving yours!
My DH ordered me the Kindle Fire 32GB HDX 7 yesterday, along with a keyboard and origami stand/case, with his bonus points from Citibank, so it was "free"
He calls it his Christmas gift to me.
We have HughesNet, so I can use the wifi router (along w/ DS on his laptop) while DH can catch up w/ his news groups on the main computer. Happy campers!!!

Hi. my mother just received her Kindle today. I will have to set it up for her and show her how to work it. I have an iPad Air which I found pretty easy to set up. Is this easy to set up and can anyone offer some helpful tips?TIA
