I was looking to get my elderly mother a Kindle. She's not tech savvy so I need something easy for her and not too expensive. She has a Kindle that's just an e-reader. If she is just going to use it for books, some game apps, and maybe surfing the web does a 16 GB Kindle offer enough storage space? TIA

Hi I don't know how old your mother is but I am 81 and I have an ipad, computer

and kindle 7"hdx which is the one I would suggest for your mother as it is the one

that has the help button right on the kindle, just press it and someone appears on

the screen. I have had to use it a couple of times and they actually answer your

question by doing it with you observing. Right now Amazon has 30% off on the

Kindles and I think that includes the HDX. Hope this helps. Susan

Thank you so much for the reply. My mother is going to be 86 on January 26th. She wouldn't mind me telling you as she is very proud of it! She needs something very basic as she is technology challenged.

Hi Jordan. Good for your mom. It's not easy being our age in this technological age But we have to keep up or we will wilt. It is important to use our minds every day. Your Mom will be fine and with your help she won't feel life is passing her by. God love you. Susan

jordan2 just an FYI..the kindle fires are being offered @ $30 off if you use the code on their homepage and the sale ends today Jan. 11 so if you're interested in the fire now's the time to do it. I have the 8.9 hdx on order and can't wait to get it.

I just opened my new Kindle HDX 7 "". Easy to set up and use. Has a MayDay button for instant help. Love love love Amazon. I finally took the plunge and got one.

I have a Kindle keyboard, 7" Fire HD & 8.9"HD. I use my 7" much more than the larger one. It's easier to hold, and totes along in my purse better. I think it's a bit more responsive too. I love my Kindles.

I don't understand the May Day button or why you need it. I have clicked the CONTACT button several times & they call within a minute on my phone. Amazon has terrific customer support.

Is OP wanting to know which physical size or storage size? I read it to mean storage size. If so, 16 is big enough unless she would want to store movies and videos.

I too own a 7" and an 8.9". I also use my 7" more. However if I only had one and I wasn't going to transport it around with me, then I would prefer the 8.9". The 7" is too small to surf the web for me.

A 16GB sounds fine since you can store your items ""in the cloud."" Why pay more if you don't have to.

I did mean storage size. I didn't purchase one for her yet. I noticed Best Buy was selling it for a sale price that was better than Amazon. I noticed on Amazon you can buy it with or without ads. I don't understand why you would buy the one with the ads.
