Always look up numbers like that on this website:  https://www.whitepages.com/?from_switchboard=true or go to switchboard dot com. You can find out if it's a real number or if it's a scam. Odds are it's a scam because Microsoft does NOT call or give out it's phone number. They don't want you calling them ever.

Yes, I receive them about once or twice a month.  Sounds like the same guy with a foreign accent everytime.  I've even told him that I don't own a computer, therefore I won't need his Microsoft services, yet he keeps calling, saying he is calling from Microsoft about my computer!!   He calls from a slightly different number everytime, so that is why I have picked up a few times.  I usually ignore those type phone numbers that I don't recognize!

Most technical support scammers are located in India.

 

Fake IRS, AT&T, Apple, Microsoft, Windows scams are well known these days.

They are keep changing their phone numbers and running their illegal activities.
