Update - My printer issue🤔

[ Edited ]

Thank you to all who responded with help & suggestions on my previous post.

Well, I contacted Apple today - boy, I love their reps the first one Suzette spent 45 min. (Sharing my computer) & we were both baffled as the "download" for the printer was there but not finding it on the system.

She brought a SR advisor on who was patient, ran diagnostics, cleaned up from excess needless things "hidden" in my MAC & finally downloaded the canon printer software.

Oh my goodness -- the update software provided by Canon was for IOS 10.8 not IOS 13.5 no wonder it wouldn't /couldn't find it!!!He  told me to call Canon & ask for updated driver.  He also gave me his Apple email, case # and asked me to contact him when I got right update, if not, would help by contacting Canon  he would walk me thru the install.

I called Canon and duh....rep said that is the newest version they can provide.  Nothing more nothing less. Needless to say, I didn't get update therefore I will reach out to Apple and he will try to get it. He is off until Wednesday but I will email him.

Also, Canon said more than likely the printer may have had power surge (get lots of them here) and the printer mainframe may have been affected.  They gave me another # to call which I will do tomorrow.

UGH I'm glad it wasn't me!!!!  Thanks again everyone!!!

I'm sorry about the outcome so far.  I hope you can finally get it resolved thru the Apple rep.  The one time I had to use Apple Customer Service I thought they were great, too.

I have a relatively old Canon printer and it works with High Sierra without downloading new software or drivers.  How old is your printer?

Re: Update - My printer issue🤔

If you don't already have one, get a "surge protector" for your computer and printer.  Also, if you do live in an area where there are a lot of power surges and other problems, call your electrician and ask him about a "whole house surge protector".  We had one when we lived in Central Florida (lots of lightning, thunder and power surges there) and we have one in our current home.  They can save a lot of problems.
