UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

We had uverse internet before and it was awful. Any one know if it has gotten any better?

I worked at home and I had to get comcast to keep a constant, solid connection. I don't work at home now.

The comcast bill keeps going up. They won't budge on the cost. I called them twice and with their mumble-jumbo I don't same much even lowering the speed.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

We had UVerse with ATT for our internet and they also did our home phone line. I hated it, like you said the connection would always be dropped without warning, and sometimes it would be out for hours at a time. I was stuck with no internet and no main phone line, and when my dad was ill that was just not acceptable. I would sometimes have to go to the library and use the computers there to contact them and their customer service would just say they were doing upgrades in the area, but could never give an estimate of when the connection would be back. Sometimes it was only for 10 or 15 minutes, but sometimes it was several hours. I hated it. They were supposed to be "bundled" with DirectTV but combined the bills were ridiculously expensive. I finally got rid of them and went with our local cable company Cox Cable and they bundled everything, tv, phone and internet. I love them and have not had a single issue since changing, and the cost is about half.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

I've got U-verse and have had no problems at all with my internet or tv reception. I had U-verse years ago and only dropped them when they dropped some of my favorite channels while still raising rates. It could be the problems you were having were due to localized issues.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

We had regular AT&T Internet for years and years with no problems. One day last year, the connection just died. They came out and did something and switched us to Uverse Internet and we've had no problems with it. We've been very pleased.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I have AT&T Uverse internet only and never had a problem. Their Uverse phone service was way too expensive so I've used an Ooma Telo for phone service for the past year and a half and I absolutely love it.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

I have Comcast for my TV and Internet service. The service is very good in NJ, but it is expensive. This is my go to site for all things cable, internet or wireless phone. http://www.dslreports.com/. This site has very active forums.

We have AT&T phone and cell phone services, but they say Uverse isn't available in our area. I used to have Comcast and wasn't happy with it.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

I have uverse internet and land line. No issues. Have always had at&t land line, but added the internet when I moved 8 years ago. About a year ago I called and asked for a better rate, they upgraded me to uverse for less.

My mother has the internet, cable, land line bundle with Comcast and has had no issues either.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

I have UVerse internet and have thought of switching to Comcast. My UVerse is slow. They actually lowered my cost a bit because they weren't delivering on the speed I was paying for. But it's probably still too much for what I get.

Re: UVerse internet vs Comcast internet

I guess it depends on the area with Uverse. I just hate paying Comcast so much. I don't know what I'll do.
