Trio 4G tablet with T-Mobile

I bought the TSV Trio 4G tablet with T-Mobile as a Christmas gift for my sister because she doesn't have Wi-Fi. The tablet worked great for about a week or so. Then she lost her 4G connection. We contacted T-Mobile and they couldn't give her a reason why this would happen. Since she doesn't have Wi-Fi, the tablet is useless, and I paid an extra $50 for the 4G. Has anybody else had problems like this? She wants to give it back to me to send back. I've told her that she could use it in different restaurants and stores and hook up with their Wi-Fi, but I paid extra money for the ability to not use Wi-Fi. Does anybody else have any comments regarding this? Thanks, as time is running out to be able to return the tablet. P.S., it isn't just her tablet doing this, because I bought an extra one (since sometime you can get a dud), and its acting the same way. Both worked fine the first few days. Now I can only get on the one I kept when I hook up with our Wi-Fi. This just isn't right.

Edit below: I just checked out what you bought. Don't pay attention to what I first wrote. It's wrong.

I see you get 5 GB of data per month for 5 months. That is quite a bit if you just play games or email, but if she watched two movies on netflix, it could be used totally up.

Did you ask T-mobile if she went over the monthly limit?

That is the only thing I can think of.

She probably used up her allotment of data.

My sister only has cellular internet for her iPad. She has learned it really isn't enough data and very expensive to add more. I've encouraged her to get Wifi but who knows if she will.

Re: Trio 4G tablet with T-Mobile

Also, if she is only using 4G, the settings have to set up so that NOTHING automatically updates. Any time an app has free reign to go out and grab and update, no matter how small, it is going out using the 4G data amount.

That, along with her using the 4G exclusively would chew up her allotment real fast.

I think the data, once used up, just stops until the next monthly cycle starts.

I would look at her settings and shut every permission down. You can do a once a month check to see if anything really needs an update, most times they are just 'tweaks' that can wait. She could do that by sitting somewhere else on wi-fi, & turning on permission to update.

Then shut the auto-update off again. Background stuff chew up data time in the background, and poof, your data alottment is done until the next month.

Exactly what the others have said. She used up her allotment of data, now they shut you off. Either buy a data plan or wait till you get your 200mb free again at the cycle.

Re: Trio 4G tablet with T-Mobile

She didn't use up all her data. She has five months to use 5gb which was a special offer with the tablet. Someone finally told her that the tablet may need refreshed after the bad weather we had. Problem solved. Thanks everybody for your input.

It probably wasn't the weather. A lot of the Android 4G ""phablets"" can have issues caching that can knock out the 4G. She should look into an app called Seeder. It improves the entropy system and prevent this from happening.

Well, that is good to know! Refreshing it? Good info.
