How do you close down a Hotmail account?

he best thing to do is to go to the places where you have your e-mail shared or stored and change the e-mail address.  It's no different than having your mail forwarded to a new address.  Eventually it stops or mistakes are made.

Key Steps to Close Your Account

  • Sign In: Log in to your account at Microsoft.com.
  • Navigate to Security: Click on the "Security" tab, then select "More security options".
  • Close Account: Under "Account security," select "Close my account".
  • Verification: Follow the prompts to verify your identity via a security code.
  • Confirm: Read the warnings about losing access to email, OneDrive, and subscriptions, then select "Mark account for closure".
Important Considerations

  • Waiting Period: The account is not immediately deleted. Microsoft allows a 30 or 60-day grace period, during which you can log in to reopen it.
  • Backup Data: Ensure you have saved any important emails, files, or contacts before finalizing.
  • Associated Services: Closing your Hotmail account also closes your linked Microsoft services (e.g., Skype, Xbox).
  • Automatic Closure: If you do not log in within two years, Microsoft may automatically close the account due to inactivity.
There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.
