Hi. Has anyone here tried to trade in your old iPad? Apple and BestBuy (and maybe other places, I don't know) have this option. I'm looking into trading in my wifi iPad 4 from 2013. It works but it's slow, and I can't upgrade the iOS past version 10.3. I'm typing this post from it.

I'm just wondering, for those of you who have tried it, if you were successful and got what you were hoping to get for it. Is it a "for real" option?

You have to wipe it clean so I don't want to go through that step if it's not going to pay off!

And do you have any advice?????

thanks for any help and advice you can offer!

thats me.

Re: Trading in your old iPad

You can sometimes do better by dealing directly with companies that buy/sell used electronic equipment like phones, iPads, tablets, e-readers, etc.  You can try a place like www.gazelle.com to look at what you’d get for your used iPad. You answer a couple of questions about its model, capacity, condition and you get a quote for its value. You accept the deal or don’t.

Or read a little about the pros and cons of cash for electronics in this thorough article from Cnet. Its emphasis is on phones, but it applies equally to iPads and readers.

Google Apple trade-ins as well as.....

"Apple GiveBack"

If you live in N.J.  check out "Experimac"

Thank you for your replies! I'll check out the CNET article and look into other places. I live in DC so don't have the New Jersey option, but thank you for the thought!

Re: Trading in your old iPad

I recently got a new Apple iPad from Best Buy because my old one wouldn’t upgrade like yours. Rather than let someone else clean my iPad I decided to keep it for my great nephew to play games I.e. 5 little moneys, daddy fingers. I’m not sure of the monetary trade-in value. @Thats Me

I’ve used Gazelle for my phones and when I buy a new iPad I just trade it in at the Apple store at the same time.

I did this at Best Buy with no problem. Turn off find my IPhone, sign out of your ICloud account and wipe. I traded in my IPad Air 2. They gave me $180. With the trade in’s the newer the IPad the more money.  For an IPad 2 I don’t think they give you anything. It’s too old.  They will tell youwhich ones you can trade.

Re: Trading in your old iPad

I knew about this option but forgot about it when I purchased my new iPad Pro last week.  Darn!  The one I'd consider trading might be too old, though.  It's the iPad mini, four or five years old.  Then I have an iPad 2 that never cared for and I'd love to get rid of.
