We have had a Tracphone for about a year and have liked it. We recently decided to move to AT&T on our son's plan which would cost us only $15 each for unlimited time. When we tried to port my phone number that we have had for 40 years to my new phone with AT&T we are told that Tracphone now owned it and wouldn't release (they resell them) it so we had to get a new number. They said it had something to do with a new law changed about 6 months ago that because the companies like Tracphone are not actual carriers they (Tracphone) own the numbers. I am furious!! QVC and the "Other" shopping channel should tell people this when they sell the phones. I never signed anything saying I was giving my phone number to Tracphone. The public should have been notified that the law was going to change in order for people to change phones if they wanted to,keep their numbers. We were told by everybody we talked to that there was nothing we could do! People that had their phones before the law changed should not be subject to the new law. New buyers beware of you want to keep your phone number you will have to stay with Tracphone for life.
