If you have a tracfone do you have to be connected to the internet in order to reload the phone?
Probably a stupid question 'cause I don't know how else it would be reloaded...but my husband's battery died on his phone and it's only a year old...I am thinking about looking into a trackphone again..as I posted about this in the past.
He does not want/need any internet connection and rarely uses his phone, so I think tracfone might be the answer. thanks

My sister just calls the 800 #-800-867-7183 to renew her minutes or it can also be done online.

@Mom2Dogs I am not a frequent phone user. I take it in the new car and the dealer set it up to take calls. I upgrade every three years and it pays for itself with free minutes that last me a year. Annually I add minutes with their toll free number. I text now and then. Take a few pictures. If it won't text as froze, which happened on my latest phone turn it off and on again.
It won't work out of the country but I believe you can call overseas from the U.S. I have had three Tracfones in 10 years and no problems. I rarely use it and use my tablets as easier to see for internet or e-mail.

@Gorgf Is your phone a flip phone? I would love it if my husband would use a smart phone as I could set it up for him...I have an IPhone. He thinks are are to big, ugh. I have a very old Iphone and it is on the small side but he likes the size of a flip phone.
Adding contacts or doing ANYTHING on his flip phone is impossible to figure out...we try not to talk about his phone beause we always disagree and I refuse to help him with it....I read the instrutions to perform certain tasks but it is difficult.
I would guess that he uses his phone like you do...rarely, and we still have a landline that his kids use to call him as well as others we know use the landline. Cell is for emergencies or when we are out and about.

@Gorgf We recently traveled out of the country..a cruise. When we were in Puerto Rico and St Thomas, surprizingly, our phones worked. Several text messages came through.
When I was researching it online, I believe it was TMobile that had more coverage in those areas. Our tracphone sim cards are Verizon, If I remmember correctly, Verizon goes thru a local carrier in those areas which is why TMobile would be the better choice.
The tracfone international plan, sold to US customers, is only for makeing calls FROM the US to foreign countries.

@mrshckynut Thanks, I just like the ease of use of my IPhone and could help my husband with his phone if he an an IPhone....which I know are expensive, but my IPhone is really old and was not that expensive when I purchased from Consumer cellular years ago.

I bought a flip phone from Tracfone years ago. I rarely use it so the minutes I have on the phone have accumulated and I end up buying $10-worth of minutes plus their $49 yearly service plan each year. That comes out to cost me around $65 total for an entire year of cell phone service. Can't beat that. Phone is easy to use. Buttons are big and easy to read.
