Tracfone Airtime

[ Edited ]

Do you know if you can add the airtime from the LG TS on HSN today to the phone I own now? It's cheaper than buying the 1 yr service/400 mins from Tracfone. The phone will not work in my area but if I could add the airtime to DH's phone I would buy it. I have done it previously with the LG phones but never with an Android where you get mins, text & data. DH says it will not work with promotional mins. I don't know if they consider those promotional mins? TIA

Re: Tracfone Airtime

[ Edited ]

There is one poster here who does this all the time.  I think they posted on the other Tracfone thread.  They basically have a drawer full of brand new phones!  I don't know how to do it myself, but I hope you find the person I'm talking about and get a detailed answer.

I have had 9 different cell phones over the 10 years I have used Tracfone. Always been cheaper buying new phone from hsn than adding a year to my old phone. Present phone with 1 year expiration/1200 minutes talk/1200 texts/1200 mb data all for $80 delivered.  1 year with Tracfone for same thing? $119.

As long as your present(old) phone is with Tracfone you can transfer what remains on old phone to new phone. If your husband uses Tracfone, whatever minutes he7 has remaining on his Tracfone can be moved onto new Tracfone.

As for the 1350 minutes with thus new phone? I am not sure, but I think this new phone, with the 1350 minutes have to be "activated" onto the new phone, and cannot be added to an older Tracfone. That is where I am not sure.

I would think you couldn't because the promotional minutes are linked to that phone specifically.

That's where I'm not sure so I did not buy it. Rather pay extra for 1 yr service card then have to return the new phone. The new phone will not work in our area as usual.

We have used Tracfone for years & I have bought a new Tracfone & added the mins to the Tracfones we already have.

We have the LG Sunset which is the 1st Android available to work in our area. Since it comes with mins, data & text & the other phones only came with mins I did not know if you would be able to use those mins on the phone we use now.

One of these days I may have to buy one just to find out. I know if I called Tracfone they would not know or give me the wrong answer.

I have done it before from adding the mins. from the new Tracfone to the phone we were already using. Just have not tried it on one of the Android phones.

Sprint/Verizon combo cell networks don' work in your area? What network worked for you in your area using Tracfone? With all the Tracfones I have owned with different cell networks, only T-Mobil did not work in our area.

All 3 of the mentioned TV stations offer the 30 day return. When I bought my first android phone, it is the same model Samsung I am now using. I bought the same model when my expiration got close and I also like this phone. First 1 I transferred remaining minute from old phone, which was a " MINUTE/EXPIRATION ONLY PHONE", and it transferred the minutes to new android phone, no problem.

AT&T. When I put in our zip code it says not eligible. DH thinks they will still work. From what I have read & understand it will work if AT&T wants to let it work & if they don't it won't. I have enough mins, text, data & service days to last until Nov next year. DH uses his phone a lot more then I do. He really likes the LG Sunset. If I could have bought that TS & put the mins on his LG Sunset I could have saved about $20. I think the 1 yr service card with 400 mins or 1200 tripled is almost $120 after you pay the taxes or fees or whatever they add on to the total. I could have sent the new phone to my sister since her zip code is eligible. She has my old LG 840G now so she can get triple mins. Her phone was only old & she bought a double min card for it. She would love to have an Android cell phone that comes with the mins, text & data separate. I wish HSN would drop the price of the LG Sunset to $99. I would buy it & put the mins. on DH's phone & send my sister the new phone.
