I have used Tracfone for many years.  But I detest smartphones and absolutely minimize the use of cell phones. Therefore, I have thousands of talk minutes and text and data availability stored up. They store up because I use the phone minimally and get a new phone about every three years which come with all the minutes, etc. plus my unused service transfers over to the new phone.

That said, with Tracfone one must pay just to have the service available.  The least expensive way to renew service is as @gardenman  described.  Go online to Tracfone.com, set up an account with your information, go to "Refill", scroll to the bottom and add to your cart the least expensive add on item.  Then go to your cart and there, select (can't remember exact words) add one year of service for $49.99.

I found one cannot delete that cheap add on item or the 49.99 also deletes. Since I had selected a $5.00 add on, my total was @$55 plus tax.  I just did this a couple days ago. Now I'm set for another year. So, I pay around $60 a year for my smartphone usage.

I'm not talking about something you do with a new phone.  I'm specifically pointing out when your first year is almost over, if you have seldom used the phone and therefore have tons of unused talk, text, data, then you just need to buy the service time. This is the least expensive way.

then  maybe i will order another Moto g styluis  but upgrade to the 5 g...maye in  July of next year?
