I have the exact experience with ordering pc's from QVC. Never any problems and I will probably purchase my next one when this one is obsolete. Sorry for the bad experiences you have had with QVC.

I could buy a Dell desktop from QVC, but it would cost $200 more. This would be a deal breaker. There is also a three week wait for the computer. You can get a computer from Dell direct in a few days to two weeks.

The good, the bad and the ugly of ordering computers from QVC

The good? There is none unless one want to call easy pay something good. I do not as I can do the same thing directly from a manufacturer or on my credit card.

The bad? Where to begin. Guess I will just say that those that like to play a "Catch-22 Game"? Then this if for you as you will get lots of: "Manufacturer-you gotta call QVC it's their problem/QVC: you gotta call the Manufacturer it's their problem". Enjoy!

The ugly? I see me wasting my time as an ugly thing. Even if I am just sitting on my butt watching TV all day, getting the runaround is still wasting my time.

I always will choose building my own computers when ordering directly from a manufacturer. That way I get only the hardware that I will use, regularly, and not a bunch of things that are just toys for some for awhile to play with when bored.

Re: The good, the bad and the ugly of ordering computers from QVC

While I've had computers for years- big ol' dinosaur desktops and graduating to laptops- which I ordered direct- I ordered "blindly" from the manufacturer and was lucky to get a super tech who always helped with problems. But technology changes minute by minute , I'm not a pro- sometimes I forget something I used to know how to fix and frankly with so many choices how does one actually know what is the best hardware? what is the best speaker to choose? what does a newbie or even an "oldie" know what to order that is "the best" or the best for their use? ie: AMD processors vs Intel?-- Sure you can look it up on the internet-but for every pro vote for one- there is a pro for the other. So how nice that some people are tech saavy enough to choose specifically and get the "best". If you're not a gamer- then you don't need the same thing as a person who just uses it for e-mail or social networking. Some people actually just play solitare!

So to generalize and say- "buy direct from the manufacturer is fine for you who have the knowledge to pick and choose- but to tell people who aren't as tech savvy- the Q's offerings may be a better choice and they do provide SOME perks- like lifetime tech support among other offerings. Finally- I 've checked prices buying "direct from the manufactuers" but often the extras I want bring that price up too , and without the extras from the Q.And as for tech support in todays world-- YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A WAIT OR BE OUTSOURCED AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER no matter who you buy from.

Lastly- whether buying direct from manufacturers or buying from shopping networks- if you get a lemon or it's determined that there is a defective part- when you get the replacement- it's likely to be reconditioned which may or may not be to your liking. Personally if I'm buying new- I want new back- but they all do that replacement policy. Only rarely will you get more than what you originally had.

And as I've said- I've had computers for years- Heck I used to work in a place where the computers took up a whole room! But that doesn't mean I want to spend a long time researching and picking and choosing and comparing- I have other things to do- And yes, you'll see my posts asking things on this forum-because sometimes it's just faster and easier to get an answer from people who do want to spend their time with research.. Good for me and nice of (most) of them. Thanks to those who DO.
