The good, the bad and the ugly of ordering computers from QVC

I have a friend who is not a regular QVC customer. She recently ordered a computer from QVC with a free tablet. The tablet showed up, the computer never did. It supposedly got lost somewhere in the shipping process. That's the bad part. The ugly part is this is what I read about on here all the time. The good part? QVC finally said the computer was lost, refunded her money, and told her to keep the tablet for her trouble.

Said here ad-nauseum that a computer should be bought without a 3rd party being involved. Have been here and read way to many similar stories. Then there is the "Catch-22" runaround that many experience.

Dell(or whatever manufacturer)says to contact QVC and QVC says?? Call Dell, it's their problem.

It's hard to imagine a good part. Most of the people who come here saying they buy over-priced and under-featured computers from a shopping network say they do so for the ezpay. The fact of the matter is - any manufacturer I know of will give you interest-free payments at a minimum of 6 and sometimes it's 12 or 18 months.

There are just so many reasons NOT to buy a computer here that I just don't get it. If it weren't bad enough that you are over-paying for, often, rather old (in the case of this one REALLY old) technology and a lot of stuff of no value to which they attach a value anyway, you have to wait forever and a day to even get it. If I were going to over pay for something (which I'm not), I would at least expect to receive it quickly.

If the purchase/computer isn't needed immediately, why not save your money and pay cash?

How long does shipping take on Electronics? I ordered an item on Thursday and it still says In Process.

Takes as much time as it takes you to keep repeating the same questions.

My Gateway computer cost me $300 from BestBuy 3 years ago -- and I'm on-line all day, every day - and it works perfectly. You don't have to spend $1,000 to buy a great computer - and a "new" one for that matter. Shop locally - and go to several stores and compare prices.

It should be all good if people did their research prior to purchasing and not depend on a 45 min presentation.

Over the years I have purchased three computers from QVC without any problems. The pricing was good, had all the features I wanted and no problem with shipping. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another.
