Tablet Screen Protectors - Why So Difficult?

I have a new tablet (8.9 Samsung) and bought a screen protector for it. But I've been reading actually putting the protectors on without getting air bubbles is so difficult to do! Anyone have experince with this application? Is it really that difficult? Should I take it to a computer store to have them apply? TIA.
