I have a Hisence android TV. It has to be hooked to a ethernet cable to work. I have a TMobile tower for WiFi. For what ever reason, it says I can't connect to the server. I have internet and the tower is right next to the TV. I've unplugged everything and plugged back in, changed remote batteries and called TMobile to see if there is any issues with them, but there is not. I'm not a techie person and don't know what to do. The TV is a little over 2 years old. Any suggestion?

Modern TVs are modular with bits and pieces from here there and everywhere put together to make a TV. It sounds like maybe there's an issue with the WIFI card in your HDTV. If it works fine with the Ethernet cable, then I'd just use that. It's faster than WIFI, and your router right by the TV makes it an easy connection.

@gardenman, the ethernet is connected and it still doesn't work. I;ve unplugged and then plugged everything back in. Nothing works.

My TV only works on HDMI 2. On your TV setup screen, you should be able to choose which input to use.

It was working last night, then it went out and nothing had been changed from what it was set on. Thanks, @Desertdi and @gardenman .

If you can get to your TV settings then check for software updates. Also make sure that the time and date are set correctly on your TV.
Try 'forget and reconnect' to wifi in your TV settings. That might reset the connection.

Ah! I thought from your original post that it worked with the Ethernet cable. Whenever there's a connection issue, the prime suspect is the connector. In this case, the Ethernet cable. Do you have another one lying around to try? Cables can fail in interesting ways causing all kinds of chaos.

Try physically unplgging both theTMobile tower and your TV; wait a few minutes and then plug your tower back in and let that restart, then plug your TV in.
If that does not help do a search "android tv cannot connect to wifi"
This will give you numerous steps to try to correct the problem.

@gardenman, yes, my neighbor brought over a cable and it didn't work, but worked at his house. It only doesn't work on the app? that I use every day. It works on other apps, like Tubi.

When all else fails then do a 'factory reset' on your TV. Start over again to set up a connection.
