TV Stopped Working - Help

My TV just stopped - abruptly. No picture, no sound. Dark screen with about a one inch band going by vertically from left to right. Wasn't in the budget to replace it but looks like I may have to unless anyone has any suggestions. {#emotions_dlg.sad}
