TOO MANY 2 STEP VERIFICATIONS?

These keep popping up for sites that have none of my financial data.

I use my password, but just wonder ... is there a way to stop these?

@Tinkrbl44.  I don't think I ever had 2-step verification on a site that doesn't have my credit card or other sensitive information on file.  You need the keys to heaven to get into my insurance company website.  I just skip it or call.

I find the 2 step verification a necessary evil I guess. But, I think all the ones I can think of house sensitive financial data.

@Tinkrbl44 Yes. More and more companies are jumping on this. I think that all companies/orgs that subscribe to MS365 will be required to use authentication in 2024. I have an account on each of my client's deployments and about half are using it now.

Its becoming the norm, hackers are smarter so websites are having to stepup their game.

I've noticed more and more of the 2 step verifications. I don't mind doing it if it keeps  my info from being breached.

Re: TOO MANY 2 STEP VERIFICATIONS?

I noticed that my medical clinic has the same thing and has to send a code to my cell phone.  Last time it took almost 10 minutes to get it.  I understand the why of using one but I would think it would come into my phone faster.

Re: TOO MANY 2 STEP VERIFICATIONS?

I understand the rationale. However, I live on two floors and do not carry my cell phone with me. (I am not someone who uses my cell phone much at all.)

A second and bigger issue is that I have macular degeneration, so I cannot see the 6,7,and 8 digit codes I am sent.

Even when I call certain companies and speak to a live person, I often must be able to receive, see, and repeat codes for two- step authentication.

Re: TOO MANY 2 STEP VERIFICATIONS?

I hope all of you who refuse to carry a cell phone have a home alert or other means to contact help if something bad happens. I worked in Home Care for 16 years and people don't fall or otherwise have an emergency within reach of their landline.
