Honestly, I prefer typing on a keyboard.  But at this juncture, sitting at a computer 6+ hrs./day makes my bad knee hurt.  I just can't sit at a "desk" that long anymore -- unless I get a knee replacement.  Woman LOL  (Been there, done that - not gonna do it again.)

I am a Fire 8 user ( with ads; only on opening screen ).  I've been using Fire tablets since they came out and used them all sizes but like Fire 8 the best.  Usually buy them on sale; my current one is 6 mths old and cost $54.  I always buy lowest memory and then add a micro disc ( this one is 400).  This product works well for anything short of making spreadsheets ( we use our laptop for taxes).  I used to use Macs when I worked but greatly prefer androids.

I have Amazon Fire 8 which I use for music, and photos, and scrolling...but I much prefer my MacBook Air.  Seems like some things are different on the tablet and I don't like it. Ipads are so pricey I will save my $ towards another MacBook when the time comes...

Maybe one of those adjustable height computer stands to use while you stand up might help you in that case. @RinaRina

I've had Amazon Fire/Kindles for years now.  To me it does not replace a laptop.  The tablet is for play and the laptop is for work.  Love them both, really.

I get the ads on the wake-up screen, but it does not bother me.   Sometimes I get ads on a webpage, but seldomly.

We have an IPad Pro full size tablet which we use for some things.

We each have an IPad Mini which we use all the time.

But I am too tied to my MacAir laptop which does do much more than an IPad, doesn't require poking around and sliding stuff, and has a wonderful keyboard and screen.

To me it is more comfortable and stable on my lap than an IPad too.  Nope.  It's a laptop Air all the way for me.  There are things I can quickly accomplish and the keyboard and screen are at the proper angles and easily adjusted.  I would never give up the laptop.  If it is light as "Air!"

Love my iPad. I have a question off topic. Can I use an Alexa with an iPad and no prime account?

I use a Samsung S7 + as my computer replacement.

I have used tablets since 2013. I started with an IPad and was not happy. I brought a Nexus 7 and moved to Samsung devices in 2015.

In 2019, I brought a S5e mid-range tablet. It had a beautiful display, but could not handle my 6000 emails. The display would freeze.

Samsung is bringing new tablets to market. The company is clearing inventory and you will find the S7 tablets on sale at Samsung. Com, Best Buy, and Amazon.

Amazon has the S6 Lite tablet on sale.

Samsung never reduced the price on the S6 Lite, because it's audience was students.

I like few YouTube channels. MY Next tablet where a German gentleman only reviews tablets and Chromebooks. Samsung tablets are released in Asia and Europe first. This is the only place to look for early reviews.

Sakitech is my favorite Samsung update person. He has a great review of the IPad Pro and the S7.

Enjoy your new device.

I could have written some portions of @Sooner 's post.  I've had Android and Fire tablets.  When I bought an iPad mini, I never looked back.  From reading this thread, it's obviously a matter of personal taste, though.  I'm actually on my second iPad mini right now.  I love my iPad mini!!!!  So easy to hold in my hands, beautiful retinal display, and works flawlessly and seamlessly all the time.

I have a mid-2015 Macbook Pro that I use for everything except casual browsing.  As Sooner said, it does more, it's easier to see everything, it's easier to fill out forms, it's easier to cut and paste, it's easier to shop...just everything is easier on my Macbook.  I will never give up my iPad mini, though!  It's fun to have to snap a quick pic, download books, pull up recipes to use in the kitchen, etc.  I use my Macbook Pro on a desk, since it is getting older and keep it plugged in all the time.  As soon as the new iMac 24-inch comes out (hopefully this year), I am buying it and going back to a desktop for my main computer needs.
