Anybody have any recommendations for a good quality surge protector for my computer and peripherals? We had storms last night and once side of my current surge protector evidently got zapped….the side where my computer was plugged in. The computer is fine, but I need to replace the surge protector. Any recommendations? The current one is many years old, so I was looking for current recommendations. Thanks much!

I usually buy APC or Tripplite products. You can buy a power strip or UPS.

I bought this one for $40 using Walmart's ship to store option. http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE350G&total_watts=200

Thanks for the responses. Just reading these this AM. We had more storms predicted for last evening, so I was sure to turn off the computer this time. Thanks again!

You need to unplug it. No surge protector will protect against lightning.

That's interesting to know. I've have mine hooked up to surge protectors all the years I've lived in this house (since 1984). Never thought to unplug the unit. Guess I was lucky all these years. And at least this time, the computer survived, just not one side of the surge protector. Thanks for the info.
