I'm just glad I got someone at Microsoft on the phone. Usually that is a hassle in itself.
I love my Windows 7. I'm not technically advanced enough to have gone from XP to 8. I like it and got a real good deal on my Dell, so was very glad to hear we are safe for awhile yet.

Glad you double checked! After seeing your post, I found this on the Microsoft site:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle
Keep scrolling down on the above, it gives all sorts of info on all the operating systems. I loved XP, had no problems with Vista and am now using and really, really like Windows 7.

Then again, I'm also an Android OS fan and the tiles/apps of Windows 8 is nothing new and is something I like to use. :-)On 7/8/2014 MJ FAN 4 EVER said:I'm just glad I got someone at Microsoft on the phone. The title of the post prompted me to say a not-so-nice word. Thank you, other posters, for adding the longer support information. I feel like I just upgraded from XP to Win7 even though I know it's been a few years. I was NOT looking forward to upgrading to another operating system, especially since Win8 is not my cup of tea.

I'm very glad I was directed to this thread.
One dd has 8. It is horrible.
We are looking at a laptop with 7 and almost got scared off because of this ""support"" deal. Sounds like it's not really a big deal at all.
I will hopefully NEVER by a Mac anything. We had a Mac desktop and a Mac router. Both were junk.
