(or anyone else knowledgeable about these things)
I have another questiohn regarding mail that appears in your Spam file. I recently gave someone my e-mail address and did not hear back from them for a bit. Usually, I don't even check my Spam file -- I just delete the whole lot. For some reason, one of them kind of jumped out at me and before I could really think, I dumped it, along with the whole lot. I think this might have been legit and from this person, but not sure. I was not able to retrieve it. I had not heard from this person in a long while and was trying to re-connect so it's not like I can just call or whatever and say --- hey, did you e-mail me?! For future reference, how can you tell if an e-mail you get in Spam is legit? And when an e-mail comes in from someone new for the first time that the system does not recognize, does it automatically put it in Spam? Thanks!

I've been getting those too. Some from companies like Costco and Sam's Club to which I have never belonged. I send them to spam. I've sent so many emails to spam that it's reached it's limit. I don't know what to do about it, since clearing it will just release an avalanche on my inbox. So, I just keep sending emails there and hope the new ones replace the old.

No. If that were the case, a lot of perfectly good emails would end up in the Spam folder.
