We have been trying to adjust to the new smart tv and streaming....we notice that with out a cable box, caller ID is not showing up on the tv screen.
I have tried to find the answer online but no answer....
Do we need the cable box in order for caller ID to show up? thanks

I get caller ID on my tv from my cable company. I could be mistaken but I don't think there's any other way .

We have not changed cable companies, the only thing different is we no longer have a cable box we are streaming all programming. We must need the cable box for caller ID to show up.

Check with your cable company, but, yes, I think you'd need to to subscribe to cable / have a box in order to see caller ID on the TV screen.

I have a cable box on all our TV's except for one. We don't get caller IDon that one.
Even with a box though, while we are streaming, we don't get caller id.
You have to be watching a channel that you get on the box for caller ID. If you watch only streaming I don't think you will ever get caller ID - basically you are on the internet.

Walk it through logically.....your smart TV is streaming means you are going through the internet. Does your phone go through the internet, I would suspect no.
Your phone goes through a cable company correct?

The only time my caller ID would show the phone number on the screen was when I had a landline phone.

Do you have a land line or are you talking about cell phones? Can't see getting it while live streaming.
