I'm in the market for a new desktop.
Is the Today's Special at HSN on the HP with Microsoft Office a good deal?
Been a long time since I shopped for one. I have a Dell now.
Thanks!

I'm in the market for a new desktop and was looking at that presentation. It looks like the same HP I got maybe 10 years ago that has served me well. It's not easy to find computers these days, even on HP's website. I'll have to check to see the differences in memory and I'll be following responses on this thread.

I don't believe HP was using SSD in their PCs that long ago. I have an HP all-in-one with a SSD but mine is not a touchscreen and mine has 4G RAM which is plenty for me. I've had mine for about a year and so far it's good.

HP has an all-in-one on the company site with better technology and the same price. The company offers payment plans. The model is HP 24dp0140Z AIO.
Please contact CS at HP and ask for help with a purchase.

I do not believe that ANY computer product from ANY TV Shopping Channel is a "good deal".
Go to the website of the manufacturer and see what's available. Usually, there's a Customer Service phone number you can call for assistance if you need it.

Just be forewarned that if you go to a company website you will likely get a hard sell for an extended warranty, to upgrade from the model you're looking at, they may just tack on extras without telling you. If you deal directly with the companies you have to know exactly what you want and be willing to say no and insist on getting just what you want. There's less of that and an easier buying option on the home shopping channels. While it's true the prices can be lower on the company-direct sites, if you're not good at saying no and sticking to your guns, you can end up paying more, a lot more.
Linus Test Tips sends a mystery shopper to multiple companies each year to see how easy/hard it is to get a good computer directly from a company. Last year it was Sarah Butt their graphic designer who was given the task. Suffice to say companies gave her the hard sell and forced her to say no a lot. One or two still tacked on the extended warranty even though she said no.
The customer service reps at those companies tend to get bonuses if they can get you to spend more and by God, they want those bonuses. If you're good at saying no and sticking to your guns, then yeah, you can save money by shopping direct. If you're more waffly and give in to sales pitches, stick to the shopping channels.

Shopping channels generally sell computers and other tech products that are outdated .
This company has many old products mixed in with new products(eg) 9.7 classic iPads mixed in with the 8th generation ones.
There are places online to look for general information about buying a computer.
Really, when a person buys anything a seller will try to encourage a person to buy an extended warranty.
It's up to a person to decline. This is the main reason I don't shop at Best Buy.

You're not the only poster who claims shopping channels sell outdated or old technology. Unless you have proof, I wouldn't be repeating that "information". The one positive thing about buying from HSN or QVC, the 30 day money back guarantee and no restocking fee. I wouldn't have bought it because of the small SSD.

Have you looked at the tech inventory shopping channels are selling. A customer has the freedom to purchase any product they choose anywhere. I just wonder why A shopping channel would sell a IPad 9.7 " tablet anymore. The 8th generation is the current tablet.
The wireless card is only 1X1 which will connect to a wireless router at 433Mpps. Today, a 2X2 card will connect better at 866 Mpps. Many desktop computers do not have an ethernet port, so a system needs a good quality wireless connection.

I check the specs every time there is a electronic TSV. I often think you can get a better deal elsewhere. But, I don't accuse a company of selling old technology or outdated products without concrete proof. I'd advise you do the same.
You'll never convince people not to buy from QVC. They buy here for EZ pay, 30 day money back returns, no restocking fees and they wouldn't know a good deal if it bit them. Buyer beware is my motto.
