Scanning question for Motorola

I have a new Motorola phone.  Was out today and had to scan a barcode but my phone would not do it.  Hubby's Samsung would not either.  Do I need to use an app in order to scan?  So much to learn still!!

yes, you need an app and you can find lots of them in the app store that is installed on your smartphone.

an app may already be installed on your phone and you may want to go through your app list.

i have a samsung android and use QR and Barcode Reader.
