Runner26, I don't have a bluetooth. Are they expensive? I have the Samsung Centura, just ordered the TSV for the minutes. You said I can transfer with bluetooth? How exactly is that done?

I may have misunderstood/misread (can't find my reading glasses). I just realized you already have Centura.

Are you talking about transferring minutes or contacts? If it's minutes, I transferred 'em from one phone to the other online (Tracfone website). If you don't have an account, you should register for one. You cannot transfer minutes from Android to feature/non-smart phone, unfortunately. Since you have a lot of data on your Centura, you should look into getting a Google Voice number (it's free or you can port your phone # to Google Voice for 20.00) and use your data to text.

Bluetooth is (forgive me for my sloppiness) a radio signal on devices (phones, computers, speakers) and when you have two bluetooth devices, you're able to pair them (i.e., transfer files from one phone to another; pair phone to bluetooth speaker) wirelessly.

Re: Samsung Android Tracfone

Along with this forum and helpful posters, I have found tracfone facebook helpful as well. I found out there that I need to get a memory card, save my contacts (which is a laborious task to do from scratch!) then insert the memory card in the new (same) phone. Phew! Will go today to Staples to get memory card; hope it isn't more than the phone! There are other ways, ie bluetooth, but the memory card is the easiest.

You will get a better price on Amazon for a memory card.

Re: Samsung Android Tracfone

Kleo: If you want to transfer contacts from your old Centura to new Centura do the following steps on both phones:

1) go to settings > click on Bluetooth and turn "On" > search for devices.

2) go to the menu buttom (the left button is menu, middle button is home, right button is back) and touch visibility timeout (I changed from 2 minutes to 1 hour).

3) press home and click on "People" app > click "menu" (the bottom left button) > import/export > share visible contacts > Bluetooth > SCH-S738C.

You'll get a message on your Centura: Accept this file? > accept or decline (click accept).

I used bluetooth to transfer custom ringtones and pictures from my old Centura to new Centura.

BTW, don't transfer you contacts til you set up your new Centura. What I found was that my contacts were already on my new Centura (synced) but I didn't know it would automatically sync so I had duplicates because I transferred my contacts via bluetooth.

Runner26, how did the rep get her contacts on a separate screen for easy access?

On your home screen, click on the circle with 6 squares > click "Widgets" (on top of screen) > swipe til you see "direct dial" and hard press on it > pick the contact you want. If you change your mind, you can remove the contacts by hard pressing it and moving to the top (remove).

Before you do this, pick a screen that you want all your contacts to be on (i.e., maybe an empty screen) if you want multiple direct dial contacts on your screen.

Re: Samsung Android Tracfone

I don't know about the Samsung phone, however, I have purchased two phones which were through Tracfone and they have the worst customer service. Even though I live in an area where the phone reception was covered, I was unable to get either phone to work. That was even after going through the customer service department. Stay away from tracfone.

Lexie, I have had many tracfones for approx. 15 years and have only had positive experiences. I am sorry you have not had the same.

I've had this phone since October, purchased from the other channel for a lot more money. It's very slow at 3G. It does work well on Wi-Fi, as in a restaurant or office. The clock definitely has issues. Just last night, I was trying to get it to reset just by turning off and on, and every time I did that, it showed a different time. Finally I removed the back and took the battery out and put it back in. Since then it seems to be OK. Lately, when even playing a game, I'm getting a constant message about not having a good internet connection. They may have improved this phone. The Q is selling it as Galaxy Android. HSN's was called Galaxy Centura Andoid, and it received very bad reviews for the most part. I don't understand why Q is now selling this outdated phone, except that the price is good.

That might be it. The description calls it the Centura. I do not want to have to deal with a crazy clock. I've come to rely on my phone clock. I figured I could deal with it if it were consistently off by the same number of hours because I would know if it were 10 am or 3 pm, or whatever, but that isn't gonna work when I use the alarm functions.

Sorry, had the name wrong. It is the Centura; HSN was the Galaxy Centura. As I said, I hope they've improved it, because mine just makes me crazy sometimes. Since I reset the battery, the time is STILL good, but I'm still getting the message that the network connection failed, even though I'm not on a network, so I have to call CS again.
