Running Windows XP ... do I really need to consider a new PC?

I am running Windows XP.

My PC is a few years old but runs great. I mostly use it for online mail and surfing the net.

I also load Turbo Tax.

Pretty much that is it.

I know XP support stops in 2014. Not sure I understand the implications of that.

I hate to get a new PC since I am still happy with mine.

Any thoughts from the techies ou there? I would appreciate your wisdom.
