I am finally ready to cut the cord on cable, the prices are getting so ridiculous.

I have been looking into Roku, Tivo etc., and not being electronic savy I am somewhat confused. I live in a rural area and do not get any kind of reception without having an antenna on the roof (which we took down once we got cable). So my ? is, can you get local channels on any of these boxes? Will it bring in a stronger signal so I can pull in these channels?? Is there any other box type I can purchase?

I appreciate any replies and suggestions that can be offered.
