Re: Remanufactured Ink Cartridges

I have a HP 5530 (envy) wireless printer and just purchased my first refill from Costco. Yes, HP did alert me that the cartridge was not authentic and did I want to proceed with my printing. How they know the ink is from another source when the cartridge is the original cartridge is beyond me. Knock on wood I have not had any problems with this refill. Costco says that they have a tremendous business with these refills over the purchase of the new ones. As a side note, I did try to refill another cartridge before this last purchase and Costco said they could not refill it because it was too dried out.

Edited to add: I may have complimented this refill too early as I was just unable to print documents. HP could not even find my ink levels, so I am taking them back to Costco to see if they are empty or what is going on. If anyone is interested, I will report back.

Hello Adore, hope you and Phillip are doing well.

Re: Remanufactured Ink Cartridges

Just got back and Costco where the nice gentleman said the cartridge was empty (weighed by him) after two months use. He comped me for the ink and told me to try it again and let him know if any problems arose. He said that my printer may need a ""cleansing"" to register the levels but I was not prompted to do any of this. My HP is also a eprint and wireless printer. Time will tell!!!

Re: Remanufactured Ink Cartridges

I have a wireless HP printer also. I use costco for refills and had an issue with the printer telling me the ink was empty when it was 75% full. I know this because Costco weighed the ink. They refunded my money for that cartridge and gave me the number for the ink company for tips in proper use. Haven't done that. My current cartridge is working fine.

I am tired of buying printers @ a reasonable price only to find out the ink cartridges are very expensive. I think I will keep using Costco.

Next printer I'm buying is going to be one like glb613 has ... A button for light print for draft documents! LM

It's not a button. All printers have the option of draft or fast print. The print dialog box shows when you select print. Find the option to change the print quality within the options listed in the box.

Hello Adore, hope you and Phillip are doing well.

i have had a problem with HP where i installed generic cartridges and then could not print after a few prints because it said low ink levels......i then removed those and installed genuine HP cartridges and it still would not print. i am going to get rid of that printer, buy a new printer that uses the same ink, and just stick with the genuine HP cartridges from now on. it isnt worth the hassle.

i even have a backup printer by kodak. that prints very well EXCEPT that when one ink cartridge is low or out the other one wont work. for example, if the color ink is out then it wont even print in black.....or vice versa.

i almost always use the fast draft option when printing to save the black ink.

glb613, thanks for the info about the print option. Had no clue! Will look for it next time.
