Refurbished Laptops?

[ Edited ]

Has anyone here every bought a refurbished laptop.

Was it worth the risk?

I normmally wouldn't buy a "used" computer, but some of the ones I've seen online are awfully tempting (cheap!).

Will the retailer stand behind it?

I think the seller is more important.

Check out the laptop to be sure it has all the features you need.

Plus check out the"guts", what was it refurbished with?

@RinaRina  The ones I have seen at places like Best Buy are all ones that were defective and never worked right away so were replaced so never used and then refurbished and now work great.  I never had one but several friends always buy refurbished ones and have had no issues and actually say everything was gone over with a fine toot comb so issues are unlikely.

My son got one from Best Buy 2 years ago and it still works great.

Just my opinion but I would never do it .Try Costco. They have great deals that include extended warranties & free tech support for the life of the computer.

I had a terrible experience with a laptop I bought for my son at QVC last year. I returned it & bought one in Costco. They are a pleasure to deal with.

yes, I always feel they're tested even more rigorously, since they are being refurbished. I'm ok with it as long as the seller/manufacturer stands behind it for the full warranted time.

I have purchased several  refurnished items directly from Apple.  They came with the original warranty, in a box like the new items and looked brand new.

if refurnished items come with a good warranty, I will buy.

I bought a refurbished desk top from Dell and it lasted 3 1/2 yrs.  In fact, I just replaced it yesterday with a new build.  I'm considering buying a lease return laptop just to be mobile with it.  It's under $200.

I was told that new computers are tested by pulling a few and testing how they work.

A refurbished has had a hands on testing that item and should be guaranteed to work correctly.

Judgement call.

I just bought a refurbished Fire 10 from Amazon.  So far, so good.
